Olduvai
Olduvai or Oldupai as it also is called is placed in the eastern parts of the Serengeti plains in Tanzania. Olduvai is famous for the archaeological research that has been made there. The Olduvai gorge itself is a very stepsided ravine that is about 30 miles long and 295 feet deep.

The research at Olduvai was started by Louis Leaky in the early 1950s. During the research at Olduvai the scientists found very interesting fossil from human ancestors, that are up to 2.5 million years old.

Nowadays there is a museum at the edge of Olduvai gorge. The museum was founded by Louis Leakys wife Mary Leaky in the late 1970s. After Mary Leakys death the museum was put under contol of the Tanzanian Government.

The exhibitions at the Olduvai Museum is about all the research that has been made in the Olduvai gorge. A big part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Laetoli footprints that was found by Mary Leaky 1976-1977.
